Setting Goals
Setting goals is a meaningless exercise unless the plans are implemented. If, inspite of the fact that the goal has been written and that it fulfills all of the criteria for an appropriate goal, a person finds that either there is reluctance to start the project or that it has been impossible to complete the goal on time, further evaluation is needed.
People who hesitate before beginning a project may be afraid of failing, or they may discover that this project is not one of their top priorities after all, even if they think it should be.
When the completion dates cannot be reached despite sincere efforts, then perhaps the goal was too ambitious for the period assigned. A long-range, complex objective is best divided into smaller, reasonable steps with intermediate time frames so that success can be affirmed at each step.
